On July 24, 1901, the Soviet actor, People's Artist of the USSR Igor Ilyinsky was born. His film career began in the 1920s with the title role in Yakov Protazanov's fantastic film Aelita. Subsequently, Ilyinsky starred in more than 40 projects. Among them are such popular and beloved films as "Carnival Night", "Volga-Volga" and "Hussar Ballad". The artist collaborated with Vsevolod Meyerhold for a long time, after which he devoted almost 50 years to the stage of the Maly Theater. Igor Ilyinsky also staged a number of performances and films and released his memoirs "About Himself".
