In recent days, heavy rains in Henan caused serious damage to Zhengzhou.
The Henan Provincial Department of Commerce announced on July 21 that the current reserves of meat, eggs, vegetables and other materials in Zhengzhou are normal; most of the large supermarkets and convenience stores are operating normally and are actively deploying sources of goods.
Through on-site visits, it was learned that the current supply of food in Zhengzhou’s supermarkets and farmers’ markets is sufficient, and citizens can purchase rationally on demand.
At eleven o'clock in the morning, in a supermarket on Songshan Road, Zhengzhou, a long line was lined up in front of the checkout counter.
Many citizens’ shopping carts are filled with food such as rice, noodles, grains, oils, vegetables, and instant noodles. The most of them is pure drinking water.
Although there are many citizens who come to purchase, the goods on the supermarket shelves are still sufficient, and the staff are also replenishing goods in time.
In response to the short-term concentrated purchase of citizens, the person in charge of the supermarket said that they currently have abundant inventory reserves and smooth supply channels. The general public are requested not to panic and purchase rationally.
Except for large supermarkets, most of Zhengzhou's farmer's markets have been opened as usual. Vegetables, fruits and other food supplies are abundant and prices are stable.
Relevant departments of Zhengzhou City have launched an emergency response plan during the flood season to fully protect the supply of "vegetable baskets" for citizens, and severely crack down on illegal acts that disrupt market order during flood prevention, such as hoarding and driving up prices.
