Recently, a group of Tibetan youths made pile-embroidered thangkas in a small courtyard.

In recent years, the "embroidery technique" of Tibetan traditional pile-embroidering Thangka has attracted many young people. They make each day at sunrise and return at sunset, embroidering exquisite pile-embroidered Thangkas one stitch by one thread.

Piled-embroidered thangka has a history of hundreds of years. It is a plastic art combining folk handwork and painting techniques unique to the Tibetan people.

In June 2021, Lhasa embroidered Thangka was included in the extended project list of the national intangible cultural heritage representative project list.

For a long time, generations of "piling embroidery" artists have been working hard to create cultural, artistic and economic value while protecting and inheriting this national art treasure, so that the ancient embroidery skills will flourish.
