Behind the Sichuan version of "Lost Orphans"

14 letters to her son, 35 years of a mother’s hard time finding a child

  Many letters are lost.

Those letters that have never been sent are scattered on various pieces of paper.

Lu Fengxia sorted out the letters that could still be found and copied them in a notebook. There were 14 in total.

On the 35-year journey of finding a child, I was frustrated with the disappointment and unresolved pain.

In the dead of night, Lu Fengxia, who hadn't read much, didn't know who she was speaking to, so she spread out the paper and wrote it crookedly.

"I watched WeChat in the middle of the night and paid attention to the great news that Guo Zhen found. I'm really excited. The 24 years of child searching is over, and the end is drawn to a successful conclusion. Alas, but I have been searching for children for 35 years and have exhausted the world. Suffering, I still insist on finding my son..." This is the last letter Lu Fengxia wrote to her son.

The signature is July 13th.

She read the news on her mobile phone. Guo Gangtang, the protagonist of the movie "Lost Orphan", found her son Guo Zhen, who had been lost for 24 years.

On July 15th, in an old residential building in Zaozi Alley, Chengdu, 58-year-old Lu Fengxia sat on the sofa in an interview with a reporter from Chengdu Commercial Daily-Red Star News. Tears couldn't stop streaming.

Outside the window, it was crackling with the rain, and the husband stood silently beside him, silent...

  Lost child

Finding children again and again to no avail

She had to write down pain and thoughts

"Zeng Wenhao was born on March 26, 1985, the sixth day of the second month of the lunar calendar. He was taken back to his grandma's home in Santai County on August 1986... Uncle was abducted and disappeared while playing on the street, December 1986 At around 3 pm on the 9th, I just turned one year and nine months old, still can't speak, there is no birthmark on his body, but there is a less obvious birthmark on the back of his head."

Lu Fengxia’s first letter to her son, signed on January 26, 1987

In 1986, Lu Fengxia and his wife both worked in Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan. Her husband Zeng Hongwen worked in the geological team, and Lu Fengxia worked in a shoe factory.

The child has been raised by Lu Fengxia since she was born. She wants to earn more at work, so that at the end of the year, she can buy some nutrition for the child and add new things to the family.

So she sent the child back to her hometown in Santai County, Mianyang, and let her grandma take care of it.

But more than 3 months later, my hometown sent a telegram: Something happened to the doll.

After receiving the telegram, the most serious situation that Lu Fengxia thought of was that the child was sick or had a car accident.

The couple rushed back to Santai County from Liangshan Prefecture overnight. After learning that the child was missing, she was relieved, "It's okay, I can still find..."

But this search took 35 years.

I searched the streets and alleys of Santai County as well as the surrounding towns and cities. As time went by, the scope of the search became larger and larger, going north to Shandong, south to Guangdong and Guizhou... I went out to search again and again. Disappointed.

In the dead of night, she faced great pain and had nowhere to tell, so she found a piece of paper and began to write to her son.

She writes down her thoughts and guilt for her son, and writes down her pain and suffering.

She didn't read much, and it was very difficult to write, but she had no other way. She wanted to write some words to her son, or she just wanted to express the pain that was stuck in her heart.

It's time for her son to go to elementary school, middle school, and college entrance exams. She writes letters to her son.

These letters do not know where they are sent, and they are left in the dust of time.

Until last year when cleaning up the room, she copied some of the letters she found in her notebook. She said that she would find her son in the future and she wanted to show it to him.

  Find child

Learn to "rub hot spots" expose yourself

Also become a volunteer to help others reunite

"Son, mom missed you so much. Today is 33 years after you left mom. It's hard to express the thoughts you have for your son... Son, mom wants you to live a safe and happy life. Although you have no chance in this life, I will do it for you every day. Prayer and blessings, my mother is getting older and older, and it will be difficult to write letters in the future, her eyes are not very good, and the thoughts of her son are in my heart..."

Letter from Lu Fengxia to her son on April 12, 2019

On June 8 this year, Lu Fengxia and her husband Zeng Hongwen drove to the scene at the Suining Branch of the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security.

As a volunteer, Lu Fengxia helped a mother and son who had been separated for 31 years to reunite. They were invited to participate in activities.

Lu Fengxia and Zeng Hongwen wore T-shirts with information about their son’s disappearance and propaganda posters.

Seeing other people's mother and son recognize each other, Lu Fengxia also cried with joy.

In the media interview, she took the trouble to tell the details of her son's disappearance and the characteristics of his body when faced with inquiries.

She frequently participates in various family-seeking and acknowledgment activities. She is both a family-seeker and a family-seeking volunteer.

Beginning in 2018, on the way to find her son, Lu Fengxia joined a number of family-finding volunteer teams.

There is no news from her son, but along with other volunteers, she has helped eight or nine separated families reunite.

She can't miss any chance to find her son. In April this year, Shandong "Brother Ramen" became popular on the Internet, and Lu Fengxia rushed to the home of "Brother Ramen" with a few parents looking for relatives in order to "snap hot spots".

Early in the morning, she began to "wait for the scene" to find the best location to increase exposure under the lens of many media and network anchors.

For 35 years, from posting missing persons notices in the streets and alleys, to locating persons in newspapers, radio, and television, to today's WeChat, Weibo, Douyin, Kuaishou... Lu Fengxia has been constantly learning and using all available conditions to find her son.

She slept on the street, squatted through bridge holes, and met liars.

At the beginning of this year, a man who claimed to be suspicious of her son often sent her messages in the middle of the night and chatted late into the night. Later, the other party asked her to pay for the DNA test. She transferred 500 yuan to the other party, and finally nothing came of it.

To make it easier to find children, after Zeng Hongwen retired, he bought an inexpensive off-road vehicle.

When going out, the couple often reluctant to stay in a hotel, and sometimes spend the night in the car.

The 62-year-old Zeng Hongwen drove by himself. The last time he went to Shandong to look for "Brother Ramen", he set off before dawn, rested in the service area for a while when he was tired, and then continued on his way.

The couple can no longer tell exactly how many places they have gone, but what is certain is that they have traveled to most of China.

"Wherever she decides to go, we will go wherever she says she wants to go." Zeng Hongwen told reporters that over the years, Lu Fengxia has been running around. All he can do is to support his wife silently and accompany him all the way.

  Watch over

Believe that miracles will happen to yourself

"Son, mom wrote to you again"

"Today I feel very heavy. I missed my son again. I sent so many messages, but there was no response. Isn't it lost in this life? Mom doesn't want to be (willing)..."

Letter from Lu Fengxia to her son on July 20, 2019

On the evening of July 19, a propaganda activity organized by Lu Fengxia to find relatives was held in a certain community in Chengdu. The couple made careful preparations and rushed over with propaganda posters and video materials.

But the heavens were not beautiful, and heavy rain suddenly started midway, and the activity had to be stopped early.

"Too sad, sometimes it is too difficult to do something." Lu Fengxia was helpless.

Her mobile phone is always very busy, and there are still many young people who are looking for relatives in the opposite direction. These young people know the life experience of their abduction, but do not know where their biological parents are.

They found Lu Fengxia and she became their bridge, and then fed the information back to various channels for seeking relatives.

They called her "Mother Lu".

At present, "Mother Lu" has helped more than 100 children to complete the blood collection and storage. Some children have found their ancestral homes, and others are successfully docking.

She saw separated families reunited one after another, and she believed that miracles would always happen to her.

She said that her son must not know his life experience yet, and the adoptive parents did not tell him or gave him wrong information.

She said that if her son found out, he would definitely come back to her.

Lu Fengxia said that after so many years of searching for a child, she sometimes feels desperate, but she will soon "recover".

She said that she must look for it and cannot stop, that is the only choice to support herself in the future.

"Son, today mom wrote to you again, this year soon..."

One letter is not finished yet.

Lu Fengxia couldn't remember when she wrote it. She had a lot of things to tell her son, but sometimes she didn't know where to start.
