A new diabetes drug taken once a week, starting at the age of ten

AstraZeneca Inc said today that the United States has approved the use of its drug Bydureon in patients as young as 10 to lower blood sugar levels along with diet and exercise.

This drug is given by injection once a week to patients with type 2 diabetes between the ages of ten and 18 years.

Type 2 diabetes is the most common disease in which the body does not produce enough of the hormone insulin, which controls the level of sugar in the blood.
