At about 16:53 pm on July 19, when the K226/227 train left Zhengzhou, sheriff Shen Chen did not expect that his flight attendant would be blocked on the road due to heavy rain.

The number of trains from Guangzhou to Lanzhou is K226 from Guangzhou to Zhengzhou, and K227 from Zhengzhou to Lanzhou.

If all goes well, this train with a speed of about 120 kilometers per hour will arrive in Lanzhou smoothly in about 16 hours.

At that time, many parts of Henan were suffering from a rare and heavy rainstorm.

Zhengzhou, a city with a population of tens of millions, was besieged by floods, which flooded into subways, hospitals, shops, and flooded surrounding villages and roads.

On July 21, 2021, heavy rain caused serious water accumulation in the urban area.

The train stops unexpectedly

The rain has been falling, and there seems to be no sign of stopping.

At 17:36 on the 19th, train K227 temporarily stopped at Tielu Station due to heavy rain.

At that time, Shen Chen did not know the specific reason for parking, but vaguely felt that the temporary parking was due to heavy rain.

As the sergeant, he and auxiliary police Hu Jianming, along with the conductor Huang Wei, carried out safety propaganda to the passengers in each carriage.

"After stopping for about two or three hours, we were notified that we were going back to Zhengzhou Station, but we cancelled after the staff on the train finished the preparations." It was later that Shen Chen realized that the road to go on and back to Zhengzhou would not pass. The train Can only be trapped in the iron furnace station.

In fact, K227 is not the only train trapped.

The official Weibo of "Zhengzhou Railway" announced that as of 15:00 on July 20, 54 trains on Zhengzhou Railway were out of service, and another 4 trains returned.

By the morning of July 21, the Zhengxi high-speed railway and the Longhai railway between Zhengzhou and Luoyang had flooded lines, collapsed subgrades, and flooded equipment, and the trains could not pass.

For trapped passengers, lack of water and food is the biggest problem.

"We made a temporary stop on the afternoon of the 19th, and the food was almost gone at noon (on the train) the next day." Shen Chen said, leaving Zhengzhou Station, the K227 train will pass Gongyi, Luoyang, and Luoyang in just a few hours. In cities in Henan Province, such as Sanmenxia, a large number of short-distance passengers with the purpose of Gongyi, Luoyang, and Sanmenxia did not carry enough food.

The train stopped temporarily, lacking water and food, and panic was inevitable. However, with the comfort of the flight attendants, the emotions of the passengers on the train were relatively calm most of the time.

"After waiting for more than 20 hours, some passengers were agitated because the relief materials had not been delivered at that time and the water in the car was almost used up. At that time, we had flood-proof rice in the car, and the flight attendants made rice porridge for the passengers. It is distributed free of charge. However, many passengers are still anxious to get off the train. We reassure the passengers and explain the force majeure (the train is out of service)." Shen Chen said.

Supplies arrived when water and food were cut off

Due to the shortage of drinking water and food, passengers continue to post messages for help through social software such as Weibo and WeChat.

On July 20, the topic "K226 (K227) train request for emergency rescue" appeared on the Weibo hot search list.

Fortunately, the K227 train that was suspended due to heavy rain is by no means a "forgotten island".

At about 9 o'clock on July 20, the Zhengzhou Train Department of China Railway Zhengzhou Bureau Group received a request for help from train K227, and the section immediately notified Tielu Station.

Tielu Station overcomes the problems of few staff on duty at the small station, deep water and dangerous roads, and lack of supplies in the nearby commissary. It tries every means to rush to the commissary to obtain some instant noodles and drinking water and quickly send it to the train.

At the same time, Tielu Station arranged cars with higher chassis in time to overcome the practical difficulties of deep water road risks and the closure of supermarkets, and went to many large supermarkets nearby to find food and drinking water twice overnight, and sent them to K227 in two times. train.

Shen Chen said that the first batch of relief supplies were distributed by Xiliuhu Street, Zhongyuan District, Zhengzhou City, including eight-treasure porridge, shredded bread, and mineral water.

The second batch of relief materials were delivered by Tielu Station, with a total of 301 packets of instant noodles in five consecutive packages and 140 pieces of 350 liters of mineral water.

In addition, some enthusiastic volunteers also self-delivered mineral water, instant noodles, soda water and watermelon.

The arrival of relief supplies greatly eased the predicament of food shortages on the car and eased the nervousness of passengers.

At around 20 o'clock on July 20, Shen Chen and train staff gave priority to pregnant women, children and the elderly to distribute the first few mineral water and instant noodles.

At the same time, China Railway Zhengzhou Bureau Group also mobilized other personnel to purchase items from nearby supermarkets, deliver them to the station, and feed the trains.

The staff kept looking for purchasing points and delivered the third batch of materials to the station at around 23:00 on July 20.

At present, the fourth batch of more than 3,000 bottles of mineral water and more than 1,000 bags of instant noodles have been delivered to Tielu Station.

At 12 o'clock on July 21, a large amount of supplies arrived.

Shen Chen once again cooperated with the passenger transport staff to orderly give passengers a large amount of instant noodles, mineral water ham sausage, bread and other food.

After the food and water were distributed, the flight attendants calmed the passengers.

And explained the train's follow-up plan.

Some passengers have got off the bus

"This is the first time I've seen such a heavy rain." After the train was trapped at the Iron Furnace Station, Shen Chen and his colleagues' rest time was drastically reduced in order to relieve the passengers' worries.

Being trapped for two days and two nights is undoubtedly painful.

In the afternoon of July 21, the extreme rainstorm, which lasted for nearly three days, finally stopped. Most areas of Zhengzhou "rained and cleared."

For the K227 train, despite the heavy rain, fortunately, there was no flooding on the train, and the lighting, air conditioning and other facilities on the train were still operating normally.

At around 19:00 on July 20, Shen Chen cooperated with the conductor to organize an orderly disembarkation of 70 passengers who voluntarily alighted at Tielu Station.

At around 10 am on July 21, the rain outside the car window gradually stopped and the sky began to clear.

"At around 10 o'clock this morning, one or two hours before the arrival of the new batch of supplies, another 150 people went down." Shen Chen told reporters that when the train stopped at Tielu Station, there were 805 passengers, and there are currently about 550 people on the train. The remaining passengers will stay in the car and wait for unified arrangements. "After the rain stopped at noon on the 21st, I saw dozens of staff at the railway station rushing to repair the line, and the subsequent trains will most likely return to Zhengzhou Station."

Since the temporary stop at 17:36 on the 19th due to heavy rain (at press time), train K227 has stopped at Tielu Station for more than 50 hours.

After receiving multiple batches of material assistance, the passengers on the bus are currently in a stable mood and no major incidents have occurred.

"Although our car is forced to park here, we can feel the warmth of the public. I feel that we are not alone." Shen Chen said.
