Water and electricity cuts, roads blocked and residents who see the damage, Zhengzhou is trying to regain the upper hand Thursday after the floods which killed at least 33 people in this city in central China.

The metropolis of more than 10 million inhabitants suffered devastating floods on Tuesday, which in particular engulfed a metro train, after three days of torrential rains representing the equivalent of a year of precipitation.
