Wei Xiangdong, secretary-general of the Examinations and Assessment Bureau, said that there were 7 "champions" in this year's diploma examination, of which 3 were "super champions."

  Wei Xiangdong said in his opening speech that the 2021 Diploma Examination is extremely challenging for the HKEAA and the candidates. In the face of the uncertainty of the epidemic, the study progress will be affected. Individual candidates have to take the exam at the quarantine center.

But fortunately, the HKDSE was successfully completed with "zero infection".

  A total of 49,976 candidates participated in the HKDSE this year, of which 43,294 were school candidates and 6,682 were self-study students. The total number was about 800 less than last year.

  The Director of Public Examinations of the HKEAA announced that there are 7 people in Hong Kong who have passed 7 subjects 5**. (Diploma Examination Category A subject ratings are divided into levels 1 to 5, and level 5 is the highest level, and "*" and " **"Represents the 6th and 7th levels), become the "No. 1 Scholar".

Three of them also got 5** in the extended part of mathematics and became the "super champion."

  Mak Jinsheng also revealed that the eldest among the candidates for the HKDSE this year is 69 years old, and the youngest is only 11 years old. They should take the exam separately.

  According to Cai Xiaokun, Director of Assessment and Development of the HKEAA, all 24 subjects of the HKDSE this year will be assessed online. There are about 680,000 examination papers in total, which is about 20,000 fewer than last year.

The Examination and Assessment Bureau has set up 12 marking centers in all districts of Hong Kong, employing about 4,300 marking staff and about 400 marking assistants to participate in marking work, the number of which is similar to that of last year.
