During the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, Japanese lawyers will support athletes from around the world in the event of problems such as doping tests or complaints about competition results.

During the Olympic and Paralympic Games, about 60 volunteers of Japanese lawyers who are familiar with sports-related laws and are fluent in foreign languages will be available for free consultation with athletes from each country.

Specifically, when an athlete complains about doping test results or competition results, he / she will go through the procedure at the Court of Arbitration for Sport as an agent.

In some countries, legal counsel will accompany the team, but in some cases it may not be possible to secure a lawyer for financial reasons, so we plan to provide general legal advice.

At this tournament, as a measure to prevent infection with the new coronavirus, strict rules have been set regarding the behavior of athletes, and if they violate it, they may be disqualified from participating. I will.

Yoshihisa Hayakawa, a lawyer who works on the activity, said, "I would like to provide legal support as a lawyer in the host country so that athletes from all countries can participate in the tournament with peace of mind."
