The number of patients admitted this Monday with Covid-19

has increased by 65%

compared to last Monday and those admitted to intensive care units (ICU) by 45%, according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of Health.

Specifically, there are 6,482 people hospitalized with coronavirus in Spain, while last Monday the number of admitted patients was 3,800.

With these figures, hospital occupancy by Covid patients is 5.4%, although in some communities the occupancy of ICUs is around 20%.

As reported by

María José Sierra,

the area head of the Center for Health Alerts and Emergencies in the press conference to monitor the coronavirus, it is true that there is

less confirmed income

than in other waves because the most affected people are currently young, which for generally they "enter less" and because people over 50 years of age are vaccinated in a large proportion. However, there is a decrease in the age of those hospitalized, which is "between 45 and 50 years." And the same is happening with ICUs, where the average age of those admitted is 50 years.

In addition, according to the data provided by Health on Monday,

the accumulated incidence at 14 days stands at 599.69

cases per 100,000 inhabitants during the last days throughout the national territory, compared to the 537.34 that marked on Friday and the 368.03 from a week ago.

The same seven-day indicator, which serves to anticipate trend changes, also goes from 300.81 cases on Friday to 323.98 this day.

The situation among young people remains particularly worrying.

In the case of the age group 12 to 19 years, the accumulated incidence at 14 days already reaches 1,488.03 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while on Friday it was 1,385.84.

And, among those between 20 and 29 years old, it reaches 1,794.06, when before the weekend it was 1,666.57.

The figures for this Monday also include 61,628 new cases of coronavirus, which correspond to three days since the data is not updated on Saturdays and Sundays.

Last weekend there were 33,932, almost half.

Health brings to 4,161,850 the total number of infected people with a confirmed diagnosis since the pandemic reached Spain.

Official data released this afternoon includes 23 new deaths from Covid-19, compared to 17 that were reported the previous weekend.

In total

81,119 people have lost their lives

in our country due to Covid-19 confirmed with a diagnostic test.

50 of the deaths have occurred in the past seven days.
