Harvesting of "early rice", which is harvested in the summer in Nankoku City, Kochi Prefecture, has begun, and on the 19th, golden rice ears were harvested in the clear sky after the rainy season.

Nankoku City is one of the leading production areas in Kochi Prefecture, where early rice is cultivated in the summer when the harvest season is reached, taking advantage of the warm climate.

Many farmers are harvesting at this time of year, and in the rice fields of about 30 hectares by Ryuto Takeichi, the harvest of early rice planted in the middle of March began.

On the 19th, the very early cultivar "Nangoku Sodachi" was harvested, and while the strong sunshine after the rainy season was shining, Mr. Takeichi was riding a combine harvester and harvesting rice ears one after another.

According to Mr. Takeichi, the harvest is lower than usual because the rainy season started early and the growth was delayed due to lack of sunshine, but the finish is such that you can enjoy the aroma peculiar to new rice.

Mr. Takeichi said, "I was worried because the weather tended to be cloudy, but I am happy to be able to start harvesting safely. I want people all over the country to eat the early rice grown in Kochi. I was talking.

In Takeichi's rice fields, harvesting will take place until around September, and it will be shipped nationwide, including in Kochi prefecture.
