Even if for the moment, nothing is done.

INTERVIEW

The work of Alexandre Arcady is marked by his family history, that of a Jewish child who was born and raised in Algeria before joining France in 1960. The director of

Le Coup de Sirocco

,

Le Grand pardon

or even de

The Sacred Union

, drew from his life an autobiography,

Le petit blond de la Casbah

, released in 2003. And he is now thinking of adapting it to the big screen. "I have just made a script, I am very moved," slipped the filmmaker Monday in The Summer Club, on Europe 1.

And Alexandre Arcady has a very precise idea of who could play him on the screen.

"I wrote it for him. It's the story of a man who made a film and who goes to Algiers to present it. And I would so like it to be Guillaume Canet", announced the director.

"He read the script, he liked it a lot, but he makes a lot of films. I don't know if he will find a niche so that we can do this together. But really, that would be a nice gift."

"He has this culture in him"

Especially since Guillaume Canet has a family history that echoes that of Alexandre Arcady.

"He himself has French parents from Algeria. So he has this culture in him," noted the filmmaker.

Among the obstacles: the overloaded agenda of the one who realizes the last part of the adventures of Asterix on the big screen, the release of which is scheduled for the second half of the year 2022. And then, like everyone else, the health situation . "Unfortunately with the pandemic, things are a bit on hold," regretted Alexandre Arcady. "Algeria is closed, Tunisia is in red, and I think of my Tunisian friends who are in terrible suffering. We must think of them and help them."
