INTERVIEW

"A love story that ends is not a failed story."

This is how Ben Mazué sums up the message of his latest album

Paradis

, which he defended on Thursday on the stage of the Vieilles Charrues festival.

Despite new songs focused on breaking up, the singer wants to convey his optimism to the public, as he explains from his dressing room at the microphone of Emilie Mazoyer.

"As the album is already very focused on this ending story, I don't talk about that during the concert," he explains.

"Of course, I do the songs of

Paradise

, so its themes are evoked. But between the songs, I speak of something completely different", he adds.

'I say that I come from Reunion Island where I moved to.

There, I walked a lot.

This brings about a roll which is quite meditative, there are thoughts going through us.

I wrote them down and brought them to life on stage.

So, I take the audience on a sort of imaginary hike.

This is what I propose.

But I'm not pushing the break up any more.

I already say a lot in the songs. "

"I'm pretty into the dramatic stuff business!"

Ben Mazué is not on his first cathartic album.

His second album,

33

, spoke in particular of the mourning of his mother.

“While I was releasing this album, my father had just been elected mayor of his village. He had offered to set up a funeral service, the town hall had accepted, and he had to go and buy a hearse. it was when the song

Vivant

, which is about my missing mother, was a bit on the air, "he recalls.

"At the moment, we are not bad in the business of death!", Then joked his father.

"With this new album, I realize that I'm finally enough in the business of dramatic stuff, which I talk about quite happily", laughs Ben Mazué today.

The singer is delighted to always believe in a better tomorrow.

"It is not a duty, but I have the feeling of having this type of optimism which makes me able to be very lucid in the negative sense of the term, I do not see the bright side of things But I still have the conviction that it will work out, ”he observes.

"I still have the conviction that there are good things to be learned from this. I have confidence in life. It is a good engine."
