“This year, our family of lemurs has replenished again: Mira and Funtik gave birth to a cub,” the official website of Moscow Mayor Akulova is quoted as saying.

At the moment, the group of ring-tailed lemurs consists of eight individuals, including a newborn.

These lemurs are endemic to the island of Madagascar, in their homeland they are called poppies.

The species is listed in the International Red Book.

Earlier, the cubs of the Dagestan tur were born at the Moscow Zoo.

In June, zoo staff spoke about how the animals cope with hot weather.
