For Margot Robbie, it's time to say goodbye to Harley Quinn for a while.
Over the past five years, the actress has played the famous DC anti-heroine three times.
First in the
Suicide Squad
of 2016, then in
Birds of Prey
released last year, and finally in
The Suicide Squad
, the James Gunn film which will hit French screens in a few days.
And since no film planned on the studios' agenda involves Harley Quinn, Margot Robbie is rather happy to be able to breathe a little.
“It took
Birds of Prey
and
Suicide Squad
back to back a bit
and I was like, hell, I need a break from Harley because she's exhausting.
I don't know when we'll see her again.
I'm just intrigued like everyone else, ”she told Entertainment Weekly.
Harley Quinn is not dead
Speaking of "break", Margot Robbie assures us at least of one thing: Harley Quinn should come out alive from
James Gunn's
Suicide Squad
.
This should reassure fans who had the sadness to see the character succumb in
Justice League
's Snyder's Cut
.
But as the actress would like to point out, the DC universe does not necessarily have the linearity and consistency that we lend to the MCU.
“It's not like Marvel where everything is connected in a more obvious and linear way.
It feels like there are so many adjacent stories, worlds and movies happening at the same time, just like in the comics.
(…) What a director decides, I don't think that dictates what another director might be able to pick up and do with the world and the characters, and that's what's fun.
I think that's an attractive aspect for directors in the DC world, they can make it their own, like James (Gunn) did, ”she continued.
So see you in theaters on July 28 to see what James Gunn has concocted for us with Suicide Squad!
