“Dubai Culture”: Thimar Halawani is the guest of the “resident artist” for 6 months

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority “Dubai Culture” has announced the hosting of the Lebanese artist Thimar Halawani at Al Safa Art and Design Library as part of the “Artist in Residence” program, as part of its efforts to establish an incubating environment that guarantees the care and encouragement of creative artistic talents in the Emirate of Dubai and providing them with an integrated model platform. To deepen their practical experiences and motivate them to create new works of art, as well as to activate bridges of communication between artists and various segments of society and the cultural and artistic scene in the emirate, and to shed light on local culture and heritage.

Within the framework of the programme, Dubai Culture allocated a space for “workshops” to artist Halawani, who obtained a cultural visa, at Al Safa Library of Art and Design, for a period of six months. The artist specializes in plastic art, and she will work on a project entitled "Transformation and Transformation", which deals with the human relationship with the sea in terms of migration and mobility, transformation and adaptation, and change. The artist is expected to produce 35 paintings, where her efforts will culminate in an exhibition in the library that highlights the product of her creativity, and will continue for a period ranging between four and six months.

The artist will also present weekly interactive workshops for students on the title of the exhibition, lasting an hour and a half, motivating them to read and analyze plastic art, study paintings and work on redrawing and coloring them, as well as engaging a number of students in training sessions through which they learn about the types of plastic arts. Especially drawing and engraving, to later draw their own paintings to express their interaction with the geographical space to which they belong.

The training sessions will conclude with the presentation of their works in the exhibition to motivate the young women to understand and develop their artistic abilities.

Artist Halawani said, "I am interested in the social impact of the project, as I will organize workshops and training sessions to raise awareness and educate students about the impact of fine art and interaction with geographical space, and the importance of arts in daily life.

I will also donate part of the proceeds of the project to a charitable organization.
