Recently, the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) launched the "Help Reduce Hong Kong People's Vaccine Hesitation" research plan to assist the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government and relevant departments in formulating new crown vaccination promotion strategies and help Hong Kong people build confidence in vaccination.

  The project is guided by HKBU Vice President (Research and Development) Guo Yike, Associate Vice President (Mainland Affairs) and Dean of the School of Communication Huang Yu, and Dean of the Faculty of Science Liu Jiming. HKBU’s School of Communication, Computer Science More than 10 scholars from the department participated in the research.

The research starts from the communication science, using the most advanced artificial intelligence calculation and analysis methods, and through questionnaire surveys, questionnaire experiments, media data text mining and analysis and other research methods, continue to publish dynamic and effective scientific research results, provide analysis suggestions, and aim to crack The factors behind the "vaccine hesitation" phenomenon in Hong Kong.

  In an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency, Guo Yike pointed out that it is very important for Hong Kong society to circulate with mainland China and other parts of the world.

He said that the expected goal of this study is that, on the one hand, the research results can provide the Hong Kong SAR government with a reference for policy and decision-making, and help the SAR government find a good way to promote vaccination; on the other hand, he also hopes that more citizens will pay attention to it.   According to reports, the plan has received a positive response from the SAR government.

On July 12, the Director of the Civil Service Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Nie Dequan, had a meeting with representatives of the research team to hear about the research direction and characteristics of the plan, and hoped that the HKBU could connect and share the research data and survey report content with the Special Administrative Region government.
