The Emirates Literature Foundation, the organizing committee of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, has launched a new podcast in Arabic, which includes the full sessions presented in Arabic from the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature 2021, as part of efforts to enhance the status of literature and culture in the United Arab Emirates and the region in general.

The blog provides a series of audio recordings of sessions with elite local and international writers and creators, such as the “Future of the Arabic Language” session, the “My Days with Cairokee” session, by the Egyptian writer and novelist Walaa Kamal, and the “Social Media and Stereotypes” session for free on all podcast platforms. The sessions are available to watch on YouTube, in addition to the festival sessions presented in English with Arabic subtitles.

Festival Director Ahlam Blocky said: “The Emirates Literature Foundation’s mission has always been to enhance the status and role of literature, and enrich culture in all its forms, so it is a pleasure to launch a new podcast that will reach different segments of our audience.

This comes out of our belief in our role in ensuring that all connoisseurs of literature in the world, especially the Arab world, can enjoy what was presented at the festival.”

It is noteworthy that the festival witnessed the participation of a group of writers and creators, many of the sessions were inspired by the slogan of the 2021 Festival “Let’s Change the Story”, which expresses the spirit of the current period.

The festival presented a program of family fun, rich and entertaining discussions, inspiring ideas, and interactive presentations focusing on books, art, science, contemporary affairs, film screenings and gastronomy.

The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is the largest event in the Middle East that celebrates the written and read word, bringing together global and regional writers, thinkers and speakers from all over the world.

In 2021, the festival was able to reach an audience of more than 117,000 people, whether from festival visitors or through live broadcasts.

It also hosted sessions for Nobel Prize winner Malala, Booker Prize nominee for her novel "Burned Sugar", Avni Doshi, and author of "My Bitch Sister", Owenkan Braithwaite.

The festival also hosted a group of distinguished writers, such as Elif Shafak, Amin Maalouf, and Lyman Sesay.
