A total of five nationally owned arts and crafts, such as the military memorial paintings depicting the "Mongol invasions" that invaded the Kamakura period, have been newly designated as national treasures.

This was reported to the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Hagita at the Council for Cultural Affairs of the Agency for Cultural Affairs held on the 16th.



Of these, "Kasuga Gongen Jikkenki-e" is a 20-volume picture scroll drawn during the Kamakura period, which vividly depicts the beliefs and lives of medieval people.

The Kamakura period military memorial picture "Mongol invasion pictogram" depicts the Tenmatsu of the Gokenin who participated in the Mongol invasion, and is valuable as a historical material during the expansion of the Mongol Empire.

In addition, the "Karashishizu" drawn by Eitoku Kano during the Momoyama period is a painting that depicts two Karashishi walking calmly in the mountains where golden clouds flutter, and is a representative work of Momoyama culture.

"Doukei-e" is a series of bird-and-flower paintings drawn by Ito Jakuchu over a period of about 10 years, and is highly regarded as a representative example of Kyoto in the middle and late Edo period.

In addition, the Heian period "Baifu Doyo" is a trial writing for writing Chinese poetry, and it is regarded as a masterpiece in the history of calligraphy and is a valuable material in the history of culture.



Together with these 5 cases, there are now 902 national treasures.
