[Concurrent] Cao Shaolie

I'm old and can't contribute much. (I can only sponsor) some children to go to school, which is also to give play to the residual heat of (party members).

[Explanation] The old man in front of him is named Cao Shaolie, who lives in Ding'an County, Hainan Province and is an old party member.

At first, Cao Shaolie's monthly pension was only more than 1,000 yuan.

Since 2001, he insisted on spending half of his pension every month, plus a few hundred yuan for "part-time" to help children go to school.

Cao Shaolie has done this for 20 years.

In the past 20 years, he has donated more than 470,000 yuan to 8 foundations and students from poor families, realizing the dream of going to school for 50 children.

They all rely on my pension, and I have no other income.

But when I just retired, I went to the Bureau of Land and Resources and the Bureau of Housing and Urban-rural Development of our county to help them organize their files. It may be five years, and an increase of 500 or 600 yuan per month. This money is not for my own use, but also to support students. .

[Explanation] In recent years, with the increase in retirement funds, the amount of students Cao Shaolie helped and donated to school has also increased.

There is a notebook in Cao Shaolie's home, which records in detail the time of donation to each child and the situation of school attendance.

On the second day of the monthly pension receipt, he will transfer the donated money to the student's account on time.

Cao Shaolie said that since he doesn't know how to use a mobile phone, he still keeps the habit of going to the bank to send money to students every month. At most, he has to go to 5 banks a day to send money to more than 20 student accounts.

[Commentary] During the interview, Cao Shaolie showed reporters the thank-you letters sent to him by the sponsored students over the years.

He bound these letters into a book and looked through them whenever he was free.

Every time he receives a letter, he will reply seriously, and the letter always entrusts Mr. Cao's blessings and expectations.

To Cao Shaolie, these letters are like treasures. Behind each letter carries the hope of a student from a poor family to study.

I don't want (their) return, and I'm very happy (they graduated from college) to come out.

Some of them have found a job, and I am even more happy, saying that I will let them work hard and serve the society.

[Explanation] Su Wenfen is one of the students sponsored by Cao Shaolie. Because of the poverty of his family, he accepted Cao Shaolie’s financial support from the second year of the middle school until he graduated from university.

Inspired by the love of Cao Lao, Su Wenfen decided to participate in the Hainan University Student Volunteer Service Program in the Midwest after graduating from University and became a volunteer.

Because I received funding from the society, and also received help from Project Hope and Mr. Cao.

I want to give my own meager strength to help others and give back to the society when I have the ability and time and energy.

[Explanation] At present, the 83-year-old Cao Shaolie is still running for a long time in the business of helping students and helping the poor.

He said that there are still 26 difficult students who have not graduated from school, and he will continue to donate to school to give hope to the children.
