She is the only world champion in Korea who won the women's featherweight and super featherweight titles at the World Boxing Federation. Hyunmi Choi is taking on a new challenge for the unified title champion.

Today, we are with Choi Hyun-mi, the first guest.

Q. Corona period… How do you train?

[Hyunmi Choi: Yes, as we enter Stage 4, there are a lot of gyms that close on their own. I called my acquaintances and told them to empty my workout time for a while, or that's how I exercise.]

Q. The unified title match failed... Do you think it would be sad?

[Hyunmi Choi: I had to go a week in advance because the match condition was acclimatization to jet lag, but it was canceled just 6 hours before the flight. At the time, I thought the team was deliberately joking to relax. So I said I don't want to be joking. You said it was canceled. I just didn't think of anything. It was the match I had been looking forward to. I bought a ticket to Korea the very next day and came to Korea.]

Q. When is the next match scheduled?

[Hyunmi Choi: I was planning a match in Korea at the end of August. Now that we are entering the 4th stage, it will probably be postponed to early September.]

Q. Is there any special reason for going to the US in 2019?

[Hyunmi Choi: Rather than a reason, it is a dream for any boxer to stand on that big stage in the United States. So I went in search of that dream. One of the reasons was that while I was exercising in Korea, it was really hard because of sponsorships and the cost of hosting such matches. So when I go to the US, I don't have to host a game, so I thought that I could only exercise, so I went to the US.]

Q. Finding a sponsor in Korea… How difficult is it?

[Hyunmi Choi: I have been the world champion for 13 years now. However, I have been keeping it for 13 years, and the 15th defense is a really small number. It should be done 2 to 3 times a year. However, because the cost itself is an expense that I cannot personally afford, there were no sponsors, so the match was not hosted, so I couldn't even get into the ring and thought that I would be deprived of that time. I think that was a bit difficult.]

Q. You don't have anything to do with the Olympics?

[Choi Hyun-mi: I became the Korean national team in 2006, but it was not adopted as an official event in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. So I just watched the Olympics and exercised, but I couldn't compete in the Olympics. That's why I turned pro right away.]

Q. Which of the various modifiers do you like the most?

[Choi Hyunmi: I like 'Longest' the most. I want to retire as a champion until the day I retire.]

Q. Boxing since childhood… Have you ever had any regrets?

[Choi Hyunmi: I have never regretted doing that boxing. Even now, even though I am in my 21st year, boxing is still fun. There is still so much to learn, so I am still having fun.]

Q. Naturalization proposals in the US and Germany… What is the reason for rejection?

[Choi Hyunmi: First of all, I was too young for the first reason. I was 18 at the time and it had only been 4 years since I came to Korea. And because I left my hometown once and I was in the national team between that time. I am so proud that I became a national representative of the Republic of Korea. So I wanted to play as a Korean player until the end.]

Q. Do you have any wishes or dreams for the future?

[Hyunmi Choi: What I am aiming for right now is that I am the world champion in super featherweight right now, but there are 1 more champions in 3 or 4 groups like RBF and WBF in my weight class. So, after unifying my weight class and raising it by one weight, finally there is the strongest person in one weight class called Kate Taillo. It's my dream to play the last match with that player.]

[Anchor: There's no end to the goal. As you said, the combined title match will be held next month, so I hope you will win and win again there and show your good side in another bigger match in the future.]
