According to a survey by the Japan Coast Guard, more than 40% of beaches nationwide will not open this summer due to the effects of the new coronavirus.

The Japan Coast Guard is calling attention to the fact that swimming in places that are not open is out of sight of surveillance and may cause an accident.

According to the Japan Coast Guard, when we surveyed 1121 beaches nationwide about their plans to open this summer, about 40% said they wouldn't open them, which is almost the same as last year.

In the same survey last month, 17% did not open and 39% were undecided, but again, with the tendency of infection spreading mainly in urban areas, more than half of the undecided people decided not to open. ..

Looking at the percentage of non-opening by region,

▽ Kinki region is 60%,

▽ Hokkaido is 53.7%,

▽ Shikoku region is 53.3%,

▽ Kanto region is 52.6%.

A man drowned and died on the coast of Sanuki City, Kagawa Prefecture in July last year due to concerns about accidents that could not be monitored when swimming in places that were not opened.

The government is calling on beach managers who do not open beaches to take measures such as closing parking lots, and the Japan Coast Guard is urging them to avoid using them.
