"At a meeting of the Servant of the People faction, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed the candidacy of the People's Deputy, the head of the parliamentary committee on law enforcement Denis Monastyrsky for the post of Interior Minister instead of Arsen Avakov, who submitted his resignation today," the publication said.

Deputy Alexander Kachura also wrote about this on Telegram.

“The President proposed Denis Monastyrsky for the post of Minister of Internal Affairs,” he said.

According to Kachura, the vote on the appointment will take place on Friday.

Earlier, the Ukrainian media reported that the Verkhovna Rada on July 15 will consider the issue of the resignation of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.

He later confirmed that he had submitted his resignation letter.

Avakov served as Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine since February 2014.
