The Election Management Committee of the Seventh Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region made a decision on the 13th on the correction of the relevant candidate list or replacement of unqualified candidates, and posted relevant notices on the ground floor of the Public Administration Building for announcement.

  According to the notice, compared with the general list of candidates announced on July 7, the list of candidates for direct elections has been reduced from 19 groups to 14 groups, and the total number of candidates has been reduced from 159 to 128; the reduction of 5 groups of candidates is due to its After not replacing, after replacing unqualified candidates, and some candidates abandoning the election, there are 4 people in the list whose number of qualified candidates has not reached the statutory lower limit.

  The original 21 people were not eligible to be elected because it proved that they did not support the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China or were not loyal to the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. The number was changed to 20 because one of them proposed a replacement.

  There are no changes to the indirect elections, and a total of 12 candidates are maintained in 5 candidate lists.

  According to the election law and the election schedule, the trustee of the candidate list can raise an objection to the decision of the EAC no later than July 16.

If there is any objection, the EAC will make a decision in accordance with the provisions of the electoral law.

  The EAC stated earlier that after review, there is evidence that in 19 groups of direct elections, 1 group of candidates are non-voters (not qualified to vote); other facts have proved that there are 21 candidates in 6 groups. Those who do not support the Basic Law of Macao and are not loyal to the Macao Special Administrative Region, and thus are not eligible for election.

  The EAC emphasized that candidates must sincerely support the Constitution, the Basic Law and the principles established by them, and must be patriots, and announced that they must review the qualifications of all candidates, especially the implementation of Article 6 and Item 8 of the Electoral Law. 7 guidelines based on relevant regulations.

  The election of the seventh Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region will be held on September 12 this year.
