Relationship between caffeine and belly fat

Experts at the Holland and Barrett Health Food Foundation explained that consuming caffeine can help burn belly fat quickly, as reported by "RT Arabic", citing "Express".

The health institution cited a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that looked at caffeine and its effects on the metabolic rates of people of normal weight and obese people.

And the NHS says giving your metabolism a boost can help you burn calories and lose weight.

For the study, participants of normal weight were given coffee with a caffeine content of 8 mg per kilogram of a person's body weight and "metabolism increased significantly" during the three hours following caffeine intake, the researchers noted.

Fat burning was significantly increased in the next hour, compared to a control group of participants who received a placebo.

Obese subjects and a control group of normal weight were given coffee with a caffeine content of 4 mg per kilogram of caffeine content at the person's body weight. Both groups experienced an increase in metabolic rate, but only the control group had an increase in fat burning.

The researchers concluded that coffee increases the metabolic rate of both normal-weight and obese individuals, with greater fat burning in normal-weight individuals.

Other studies have found similar results, with one study evaluating the effect of continued coffee consumption on body fat, particularly visceral belly fat.

The study was conducted on Japanese adults with a high percentage of visceral fat.

During 12 weeks, subjects drank either coffee or a placebo drink daily, and after 12 weeks of beverage consumption, changes in visceral fat area and waist circumference were greater in the coffee group than in the placebo group.
