Lufthansa drops 'Ladies and Gentlemen' on flights

Lufthansa, the largest aviation group in Europe, has decided to drop the phrase "ladies, gentlemen" while addressing passengers, in order to preserve the neutrality of gender identity.

A spokesman for the company said that "the crews are obliged to adopt a letter addressed to the passengers of all kinds," confirming information published by the newspaper "Bild".

The same source stated that the administration encourages the replacement of the phrase with expressions such as “Dear passengers” or “Good morning,” justifying the decision to keep pace with “the ongoing debate in society and the recognition of all of their differences.”

A spokesman for the airlines, which includes under its banner several companies such as "Austrian Airlines", "Suisse", "Eurowings" and "Brussels Airlines", that "a long path will take some time."

This decision applies not only to passengers but also to all employees of the group.
