[Explanation] Recently, a miniature version of the "Forbidden City" was moved to the kindergarten in Panyu, Guangzhou, attracting many children to watch.

The vermilion "palace walls", the golden "glazed tiles"... the stretches of large and small palaces almost restore the entire picture of the Forbidden City.

Entering from the Meridian Gate, with the three major halls (the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Zhonghe and the Hall of Baohe) as the core, all the buildings are spread out in the form of courtyards.

The city gates, moats and turrets are also presented one by one with building blocks.

[Explanation] The creator of this "Forbidden City" is Li Zhining, a young man born in the 1980s in Guangzhou. He used more than 700,000 building blocks to create a 4mx2.4m Chinese style work, and named it "I am Chinese people".

Li Zhining told reporters that the reason for taking this name and putting it in the kindergarten exhibition is to let everyone know about the profoundness of Chinese culture.

[Concurrent] Li Zhining, a building block enthusiast

After letting others see through this work, they will know the breadth and depth of our Chinese culture.

There is also our Chinese originality. Not only is it said that there are great gods in foreign countries to make such large Lego buildings, in fact, there are also in China, and only fans in a small place can make such works.

I hope that after seeing this work, the children will be more enthusiastic about originality and our own Chinese culture through the expression of building blocks. This is an inspiration to the children.

[Explanation] In order to complete this work, Li Zhining, who has never been to the Forbidden City, found the floor plan of the Forbidden City from the Internet and built it while groping. He started creating it in September 2020 and finished it by the end of May this year.

Li Zhining told reporters that someone had used building blocks to build the three major palaces of the Forbidden City, but the work "I Am Chinese" has his own innovation.

When we make works, when someone has done it, we definitely can't make this thing according to other people's design. I express the entire Forbidden City by swapping in a certain proportion. This is an innovation of mine.

[Explanation] Li Zhining, who has been playing with building blocks since 2008, loves building castle-like buildings. In his studio, there are more than 2 tons of Lego parts. When he has no creative inspiration, he will choose to pack the parts and hone his own patient.

[Concurrent] Li Zhining, a building block enthusiast

For the convenience of creation, it is necessary to classify it (building blocks).

The parts racks here are some commonly used and ordinary parts, so you can sort them one by one, and you don't have to look for them slowly when you use them.

Of course, it takes a certain amount of time and patience. Anyway, when there is no inspiration, I will divide the parts like this to calm my heart.

[Commentary] Li Zhining told reporters that he liked watching animation since he was a child, and his childhood dream was to build his own exhibition hall.

Now he is moving towards this dream.

In his opinion, every building block work should have something to express.

[Concurrent] Li Zhining, a building block enthusiast

I think to make a work, the work must have a soul, and what you want to express must be reflected in your work. This is called a work, otherwise it is just a high-end toy.

Why am I being Zhang Feishi? I hope that my building block business can compete with the world, because Zhang Feishi’s expression is an expression of being brave enough to win.

[Explanation] Next, Li Zhining intends to complete his "Chinese Wind Trilogy". In addition to the Forbidden City, the other two works already have a certain idea.

[Concurrent] Li Zhining, a building block enthusiast

What sets the tune now is a "Chinese style trilogy".

The first one is the Forbidden City; the second one is a building in another place, where there will be some historical precipitation and memories of a generation; the last piece is to express some of our current situation in China through works.
