The enactment of the National Security Law can be said to be a "fixing sea god" for the overall public security situation in Hong Kong.

The overall public security situation in Hong Kong has stabilized quickly.

The vast majority of law-abiding citizens welcome the enactment of the National Security Law.

[Explanation] On the first anniversary of the promulgation and implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, Deng Jingcheng, a member of the Hong Kong National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the former director of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s police department, said in an exclusive interview with China News Agency that the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law is critical to stopping violence and preventing chaos. The immediate effect has made Hong Kong society change from chaos to governance, and it has also won the general support of Hong Kong citizens.

[Commentary] In response to the recent claims by foreign media that the National Security Law has impacted Hong Kong’s freedom of speech, Deng Jingcheng refuted that Hong Kong is a society under the rule of law and that Hong Kong’s National Security Law is attacking a small group of “anti-China chaos in Hong Kong” that seriously endangers national security. The rights and freedoms enjoyed by the vast majority of Hong Kong residents in accordance with the law are protected, including freedom of speech.

Since the implementation of the National Security Law, Hong Kong society has returned to stability and the rule of law and justice has been upheld. This is an objective fact that cannot be denied.

In any place, the laws it makes are to ensure the safety and stability of this place.

In this regard, the vast majority of citizens agree very much.

The so-called influence on freedom of speech is completely false. The emergence of the National Security Law guarantees the freedom of speech and freedom of life that our citizens who support Hong Kong and love the country should have.

[Explanation] Deng Jingcheng pointed out that in recent years, some Western politicians and anti-China forces have ignored and distorted objective facts, used lies and rumors to smear China and maliciously slander Hong Kong's national security law to achieve their own goals.

Obviously, Western politicians and opposing forces have a purpose that we absolutely do not agree with.

How about black storms destroying public facilities on the streets, destroying transportation facilities, attacking innocent citizens, and attacking the police who uphold the law, but Western politicians seem to choose to see what they want to see, and many times, these The so-called situation that they have seen is only exposed in fragments, to cater to and support some of their statements that have absolutely no basic support.

[Explanation] Deng Jingcheng believes that the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law has restored peace in Hong Kong society, but as far as national security is concerned, the legislative work of Article 23 of the Basic Law in Hong Kong still has a certain urgency, which will more comprehensively protect Hong Kong in the long-term. Fulfill and maintain national security tasks within the country.

As far as the national security law is concerned, it should be covered more comprehensively, so it is actually urgent to formulate Article 23 (Basic Law), so that Hong Kong’s national security law can be more fully guaranteed to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as a part of the country. Our task of maintaining national security has also become an important and effective part of our country's national security.
