[Explanation] On the first anniversary of the promulgation and implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, Deng Jingcheng, a member of the Hong Kong National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the former director of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s police department, said in an exclusive interview with China News Agency that the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law is critical to stopping violence and preventing chaos. The rights and freedoms enjoyed by the vast majority of Hong Kong residents in accordance with the law are protected, including freedom of speech.
