The traffic is denser Saturday morning on the country's highways on this first weekend of school holidays, synonymous with departures, the day being classified red throughout the territory by Bison Futé.

By mid-morning, the journey time between Lyon and Orange (Vaucluse) was already extended by around an hour on the A7, with a traffic jam spread over 74 kilometers between the Vienne toll and the south of Valence.

Slows are also reported on the A6 from Paris, in particular between Mâcon and Villefranche-sur-Saône north of Lyon, as well as on the A54 towards Nîmes, on the A10 around Orléans, as well as in the Paris region and in the agglomerations of Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Rennes mainly.

The A7 and A9 to avoid

Peak traffic is expected for midday and motorists will have to be patient to reach their destination.

"Traffic will be heavy on most of the major routes heading south and coastal regions," Bison Futé warned during the week.

While since Friday, 26 damaged vans from Vinci Autoroutes have been exhibited in the Montélimar area on the A7 to alert motorists of the dangers, a new accident occurred on Saturday morning on the A9 at Agde (Hérault ), the 19th since the start of the year, deplores the network manager in the south of France.
