The number of contaminations has increased in France in recent days and it is, first and foremost, the fact of the Delta variant.
Olivier Véran even said this Friday morning on France Inter that this variant, observed for the first time in India, would "probably" be in the majority in France from this weekend.
"It is gradually replacing all the other viruses that existed of the coronavirus strain," said the Minister of Health.

According to the Covidtracker site, yesterday, the Delta variant was responsible for 47.3% of new contaminations in France.
Olivier Véran took advantage of his visit to the morning of France Inter to recall that this variant was much more contagious than the others: a recent British study, where this variant has been widely distributed for months already, has shown that the Delta variant was 60% more contagious than others.
