The actress Virginie Efira will be on the red carpet of the 74th edition of the Cannes film festival this Friday evening, July 9.

She is the heroine of Paul Verhoeven's new film,

, in competition while it is released today in French theaters.

She plays a lesbian nun in 17th century Italy.

Adapted from a novel by Judith Brown, the film tells the true story of Benedetta Carlini, a nun assailed by mystical visions, until the day her path crosses that of a young novice who arouses in her unsuspected desires.
