A G5 Sahel summit is taking place this Friday, July 9 by videoconference.

But the jihadist threat has extended to coastal countries for several years.

Benin was affected in 2019. Côte d'Ivoire has faced several attacks for a year, the last of which was in mid-June, an attack that resulted in the death of three Ivorian soldiers.

Which areas of these countries are affected?

Are States doing what is necessary to fight effectively against these groups?

Questions that Pierre Firtion asked William Assanvo, researcher at the Institute for Security Studies, the ISS, based in Abidjan.
