Bastian Schweinsteiger got away with one more ruffle.

After a strong warning, the former national soccer player is allowed to continue working as a TV expert for ARD.

The public broadcaster confirmed this on Monday after hours of discussions in the house.

The first had previously checked the appearance of the former national player on the TV broadcast of the European Football Championship on Saturday and the posting of a tweet with an advertising message - and finally left it with the yellow card.

The red card - to stay in football German - was just avoided. "We are in contact with Bastian Schweinsteiger and his management and have asked for a statement on the incident from last Saturday," said a spokeswoman for the lead WDR on Monday when asked by the dpa. "We made it very clear that the ARD, according to its guidelines, does not tolerate any form of surreptitious advertising and unrecognized product placement of its protagonists."

Schweinsteiger's last TV appearance at the EM had been thoroughly examined and discussed because an advertising message for a watch had been posted on the 36-year-old's Twitter account.

During the game between Ukraine and England, the prominent employee published “a post in the context of a paid advertising partnership on social media at half-time without our knowledge”.

The tweet was no longer available on Monday afternoon.

A post with two pictures had previously been shown on Schweinsteiger's account, one of which was a section with the watch on his wrist in the center.

This was clearly visible during the TV broadcast.

There was also a link to the manufacturer for whom the former national team captain has been working as a brand ambassador since 2019.

A second tweet has also been deleted in the meantime.

Schweinsteiger advertised a fashion manufacturer for which he and his wife Ana Ivanovic work.

Schweinsteiger thanked him for the “great outfit” and went on to write: “Today I am moderating our national team's game against Portugal.” This case was not examined by ARD.

The soccer world champion from 2014 has been working for the first since last year.

The contract is valid up to and including 2022. At the EM, Schweinsteiger appears in a duo with the commentator Jessy Wellmer.

As an advertising character, Schweinsteiger is doing well in business.

He works with several companies, including a hardware store chain.
