The health authorities in Germany reported 440 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day.

This is evident from the figures from Tuesday morning, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4:37 a.m.

For comparison: a week ago the value was 404 infections.

The RKI now gave the seven-day incidence nationwide as 4.9 (previous day: 5.0; previous week: 5.4).

The highest seven-day incidence during the third corona wave was on April 26, 2021 at 169.3.

After that, the value - apart from a few outliers - fell fairly steadily.

Recently, however, there were signs of a possible trend reversal, which pandemic experts have been warning of for a long time due to the increasing spread of the particularly contagious delta variant.

The incidence is currently highest in Bremen with 8.2 infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week.

In Hesse the value is 7.7, in Hamburg 7.6.

Saxony-Anhalt had the lowest incidence at 1.0.

According to the new information, 31 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 57 dead.

The RKI has counted 3,731,564 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,630,500. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 91,062.
