A bus driver was fatally injured in a knife attack in Upper Franconia.

The 63-year-old intervened early Tuesday morning when a 43-year-old attacked and slightly injured a passenger from a Polish tour group in Hof.

The suspect is said to have inflicted fatal injuries to the bus driver with a knife, the police and public prosecutor announced.

The 43-year-old German from Saxony is currently being questioned, said a police spokesman.
