American 'Superman' director Richard Donner dies at 91

American director Richard Donner, best known for notable works such as "Superman" and "Lethal Webon" (The Deadly Weapon), has died at the age of 91.

His film production company confirmed his death to Variety magazine, but did not reveal the cause of death, according to the New York Daily News.

Donner was an actor before his talents appeared behind the camera.

He moved on to become a TV director after realizing while working that acting was not his favorite field.
