There are a number of traditional discussions in Russia, the way out of which is impossible to find, but which cannot be ignored.

These are, of course, discussions about who is to blame and what to do.

Take Lenin out of the Mausoleum, introduce a progressive scale of taxation, and that's all.

These are discussions about stray dogs attacking people.

Discussions about non-traditional sexual orientations.

And now the vaccination debate.

But above all this, there is one high, constant, never ending and not tied to dates and events, a discussion about weapons.

It escalates during the days of tragedies like the Kerch or Kazan tragedies, but even without these exacerbations, the discussion is constantly and endlessly.

It burns, so to speak, without combustion support.

And if you don't have a topic for another talk show, invite supporters and opponents of free circulation of weapons to it - and you will have a great, sharp show.

The main thing is that its members in the studio do not kill each other.

Hands, of course.

No weapons.

Because our weapons, thank God, are at least under formal restrictions.

And there are countries where it is not even under formal restrictions.

And in these countries it happens like this: on the days that coincided with the celebration of the Independence Day of the United States, at least 400 (!) Shootings were recorded in the country, in which about 150 (!!) people were killed.

These are, of course, not official figures, but data from the Gun Violence Archive research group, cited by CNN.

But the reality is hardly very different from the report - you just need to watch the news.

“In 72 hours, from July 2 to July 4, 21 shootings took place in New York.

Killed at least 26 people, dozens of victims remain in hospitals, "- according to CNN, the NTV channel.

In New York City alone, the increase in gun crime was up 40% year over year.

There can be many reasons for this, of course.

First, the United States is in a rather nervous state due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The United States is the most affected country in the world in this pandemic.

It seems to be the most perfect and progressive, but it turned out to be the most defenseless against the coronavirus.

Secondly, after the victory of the president from the Democrats, the terror of leftist extremists reigned in the country.

All this is BLM and fighting multi-sex.

Self-propelled environment of meaningless protest against everything.

Of course, her internal aggression inevitably spills out.

And the police, cornered, practically do not resist.

Because for any legal resistance to lawlessness, the police are sent to jail for decades, like the guy who caught a drug addict.

And thirdly, and this is the most important thing: the weapon wants to be shot from it.

It begs its owner about it.

It hypnotizes and paralyzes.

Just like in the film "Makarov" with Sergei Makovetsky.

And when you can go to the nearest store and buy a pistol there, presenting a driver's license, this is the starting point after which you become a slave to this pistol.

And then it is already inevitable: "In shootings in Chicago over the weekend, 83 people were injured, 14 were killed."

Of course, this column is just another statement in the very ongoing discussion in which I am on the side of the opponents of weapons.

Another mockery of the textbook “but if he had a short-barrel”.

But all the same I will repeat my usual theses.

1. Weapons provoke.

The fewer weapons in a society, the more peaceful it is to live in such a society.

2. Argument - "the criminal still has a weapon, but if he knows that you may also have a weapon, then he will be careful."

Mikhail Krug is your answer.

If a criminal is not stopped by the prospect of going to jail, then why should your speculative pistol stop him?

3. It is impossible to apply the same rules for the circulation of weapons to the whole society.

There are places where people are born with a folder gun in their hands.

Where it is simply impossible to go out into the forest without a gun.

It is ridiculous and pointless to restrict access to weapons to people living in such places until the age of 21.

4. At the same time, a resident of a big city who buys a pump-action shotgun for himself, as soon as he has turned the required number of years, should receive the closest attention of those who issue a permit and sell.

Why would he have such a weapon in a big city?

How is he going to apply it?

Now, no one cares about that.

As a result, we have what we have.

And thank God that this happens much less frequently in our country than in the United States.

Apparently, it's just that the general culture is higher.

5. Weapons are needed for war, the work of security forces, hunting and shooting sports.

More weapons are not needed for anything.

For self-defense, weapons are not needed, because almost no one ever uses weapons for self-defense.

Does not have time or does not dare.

Therefore, arms turnover should be limited to precisely these areas.

I assure you, any American politician dreams of limiting the circulation of weapons in the United States.

So that there was no such news: “Shootings also took place in the states of Illinois, Texas, Virginia and Ohio.

In Norfolk, four children were shot and wounded.

In Toledo, a teenager started shooting at a party, one person was killed, 11 were injured.

In a suburb of Atlanta, professional golfer Gene Siller was shot in the head.

But any American politician cannot restrict arms turnover, because this is how his country is arranged.

And when the Soviet Union consistently got rid of weapons after the war, that was one of our great achievements.

We are a society without weapons.

And so they should remain.

Because it's easy to resolve.

To prohibit is impossible.
