“Amal Giant” on an epic journey to highlight the tragedies of the Syrians

The British newspaper "The Guardian" reported, a giant doll named Amal will begin a journey that will cross more than 8,000 kilometers, embodying the suffering of Syrians with the terrifying journey of asylum.

The doll will shed light on the stories of refugee children's transit journeys and the challenges they face, as "Little Amal" explains some of their tragedies, as she will travel from the Syrian borders through Turkey, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and France, before ending up in the city of Manchester in the north of the Kingdom. United.

Nine small puppeteers will move the three-and-a-half-meter "Amal", so that three people take turns playing it, who will also be able to control her facial expressions through a complex system of strings known as the "harp". One of them is inside a doll, while a computer will be used to control facial movements and expressions.

According to the "Al-Hurra" website, the closure of the international borders with the outbreak of the "Corona" pandemic postponed the "Amal" trip for four months, and the closure also led to more difficulties in the process of receiving donations necessary to complete the "Small Hope" march.

This work is supervised by the “The Jungle” theater team, which will make Amal visit 70 cities and towns in the streets of the main cities, with a show reception and theater performances.

Team member, British director, Stephen Daldry, said that little Amal's story "transcends borders and language to highlight the suffering faced by refugee children, and she is also a character with great hope."
