An Indian poisons his children in defiance of his wife
Mumbai police accuse a man of mixing rat poison with ice cream and serving it to his children, killing a child and seriously illing two.
Police said, according to The Independent.
Ali Noshad Ansari, 27, quarreled with his wife, last June, and took their three children to eat ice cream, then poisoned them with the aim of angering her, and the couple's six-year-old son died in hospital.
Police said they believe Ansari's wife, Begum, initially lied to doctors to try to protect her husband.
She initially told the officers that her children had accidentally ingested the poison.
But she was accused when her six-year-old son - her husband - of deliberately poisoning children - died.
Begum, in her statement to the police, said that the couple often quarreled over financial issues, and after their recent quarrel, she left the house and went to her sister's house.
Meanwhile, Ansari took his three children to eat ice cream, and then the tragic accident occurred.
