Princess Diana was a "bad cook" and almost burned the palace for a "pasta stew"
A former royal chef revealed that Britain's Princess Diana was a "bad chef" and once called the Kensington Palace fire brigade, after smelling gas while trying to prepare pasta, according to the Daily Mail.
Darren McGrady, 58, who was a personal chef to Queen Elizabeth in the 1990s and also worked with the late princess, shared his experience with Diana in a video clip on his YouTube page to celebrate her 60th birthday, revealing her happiness to spend time with “12 men. Extinguishing.”
The chef, who now lives in Texas, said Diana had a "huge influence" on him and that she had always tried to "prompt him to move forward".
He revealed that Diana would make food for herself on the weekends if she didn't go out, and recalls that she tried to make pasta that she left on the fire afterwards - prompting her to call the palace fire brigade.
"I would cook for the princess from Monday to Friday, and on weekends I would leave the food in the fridge," he said.
"She would make the food herself sometimes, and I would put little notes on the food boxes to help her with that," McGrady continued.
He pointed out that Princess Diana was not a good cook at all. He added, "One day, a friend visited her and decided to eat some pasta... She made a sauce herself, and while they were talking, she left the pasta on the fire... She entered the kitchen a little later, and the smell of gas was obvious, which prompted her to call the palace fire brigade."
'She later said, 'She said, 'You won't believe I cooked for the weekend,' McGrady said.
Diana also told McGrady, "I was so nervous and called the mansion fire brigade, and they all came...but the best part was I was with 12 firefighters myself."
"You rarely meet someone who has such an impact on your life as Diana did," the chef added.
