Self-taught, Sembène Ousmane had been a mason, skirmisher, docker, before embarking on the literary and cinematographic adventure, starting with “Borom Sarret” (1963), the first film ever made by an African on the continent.

So many stages in his exceptional career that we are talking about today, on the occasion of the release of one of his masterpieces, “The Mandate” (1968) and of an exceptional documentary which he created. consecrated: “Sembène!”, signed by Samba Gadjigo and Jason Silverman.
