The street artist Invader returns at the beginning of July at Artcurial.
After the records broken in 2020 for its
Rubik Mona Lisa
and its
Rubik Space
, the French auction house will auction its
Rubik Dalai Lama
.
In December, his
Rubik Space
had reached 492,600 euros, a new world record for a work in Rubik's Cubes by this artist, dethroning his Mona Lisa,
Rubik Mona Lisa
, sold for 480,200 euros in February 2020.
Since 2004, Invader's work had taken a new direction with the birth of “Rubickubism”, a collection of works made with these cubes, emblematic objects from the 1980s.
Rubik Dalaï-Lama
, created in 2008, is intended as a tribute to the spirituality of Buddhism.
It is composed of an assembly of 225 Rubik's Cubes and estimated between 300,000 and 400,000 euros.
From
Déjeuner sur l'Herbe
by Edouard Manet to
L'Origine du Monde
by Gustave Courbet, Invader has already reproduced various pictorial works in Rubik's Cubes.
Since 2005, numerous exhibitions have been devoted to the urban artist.
