Previously, among the transit passengers at Daxing Airport on the same day, non-intermodal passengers with checked baggage had to leave the domestic arrival area and re-check in and check in after the baggage was collected. The transit experience of passengers was not good.
After the opening of the domestic transit area, these passengers can go through the check-in procedures nearby after picking up their checked baggage, which shortens the walking distance of passengers and improves the transfer efficiency.
Taking into account the current transfer business volume of Daxing Airport, the number of passengers with baggage in non-intermodal transport connecting to China Southern Airlines' flights accounted for about 40%. Therefore, China Southern Airlines will take the lead in testing and opening the domestic transit area.
Passengers who transfer to China Southern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, or Chongqing Airlines on the same day, if they have checked baggage and have not checked directly to the destination, the passenger does not need to leave the domestic baggage hall. After collecting the checked baggage, they can go directly to the domestic transit area to complete the check-in procedures.
According to on-site observations, passengers can recheck in, check in, and pass security inspections, saving passengers about 20 minutes of transit time, reducing 4 floor changes, and improving passenger transit efficiency.
In the future, Daxing Airport will study to expand the scope of services in the domestic transit area and promote the opening of fast transit services for all airlines based on the trial operation.
