Watermelon lanterns are a kind of traditional folk culture. Every summer season, villagers in Shaxi Village, Yunhe County, Lishui, Zhejiang will engrave one or two on the watermelon, entrusting a beautiful meaning.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The skilled craftsmen in the village have carved a series of different styles of watermelon lanterns with the theme of the centenary of the founding of the party to celebrate the party's birthday.

The skilled girl in front of me is called Lin Minchao, 26 years old this year.

At present, in order to celebrate the centenary of the founding of the party, she led the villagers to carefully prepare, conceive, design, draw and create patterns related to the centenary of the founding of the party, and carry out creative carvings of watermelon lamps.

She told reporters that the party has achieved world-renowned achievements in the 100 years since its founding, and she wants to use her creations to show everyone the great achievements of the motherland.

Since 2003, Shaxi Village has developed a mountain-sea collaboration project to grow flowers, watermelons, grapes, rice and other crops, with an annual income of more than 2 million yuan, and 80% of the villagers are engaged in fruit planting at home.

The watermelon lamp is a unique traditional folk culture in Shaxi Village. Various exquisite pictures are carved on the watermelon, and the watermelon lamp art with built-in candles or electric lights is deeply loved by the masses.
