The Delta variant, identified in India, which is progressing in France, now represents "20% of diagnoses" in France and is becoming "gradually dominant" in the territory, said the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, on Tuesday on Franceinfo.

“The Delta variant represents 20% of diagnoses in France, but it is gradually becoming dominant.

We must remain very vigilant, that we vaccinate (...).

This variant, which is very contagious, will present us with many challenges, ”the Minister of Health warned.

Insufficient vaccination of caregivers

"If we are all vaccinated, that will not mean zero circulation of the virus, but it will mean that there will be zero health impact, therefore zero social, economic, educational impact", recalled Olivier Véran, who believes that vaccination is not yet sufficient among caregivers.

“The vaccination rate is still rising (among caregivers), but not fast enough (...).

If the vaccination is insufficient, we will go towards compulsory vaccination (among caregivers), we give ourselves until September, ”he continued, adding that in the Landes nursing home where around thirty cases of Covid -19 were detected, "what I am told is that there were six contaminated caregivers, five of whom were not vaccinated".
