Today, rap is the world's largest music genre, in terms of how we listen to streaming services.

But the documentary series The pioneers of Swedish hip hop focuses on the first staggering steps, and how the genre takes off within Sweden's borders a few years later.

- In the beginning, they imitate a lot of the USA and New York.

They want it to work in Queens.

Rap in Swedish was unthinkable, says Magnus Broni.

- This changes a lot with Latin Kings.

When Petter then released his debut, everyone had to relate to it.

Behind the series are also the journalist Håkan Thörn, the musician Svante Lodén, the journalist Ametist Azordegan and the producer Fredrik Norberg.
