On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, the History Exhibition Hall of the Communist Party of China held the "Historical Exhibition of the Communist Party of China".

It reviewed the history of the pursuit of national independence, the liberation of the people, and the prosperity of the country since the birth of the Communist Party of China.

Among them, the creation of "one country, two systems" and the restoration of the exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong and Macao have washed away the centuries of humiliation of the Chinese nation and shined in the annals of history.

In January 1982, Deng Xiaoping first proposed the idea of "one country, two systems".

The exhibition was exhibited in September 1982. Deng Xiaoping explained China’s basic position in solving the Hong Kong issue to the visiting British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and in June 1983, he further elaborated on the concept of "One Country, Two Systems" when he met with Professor Yang Liyu of West East University in the United States. In December 1984, the Chinese and British governments formally signed the Sino-British Joint Declaration, announcing that the Chinese government resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong on July 1, 1997.

In the exhibition hall, the power transfer ceremony of the return of Hong Kong and Macao to the motherland and the images of all walks of life celebrating the return are repeatedly shown.

The large-scale regional emblems of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region are respectively displayed, as well as historical objects such as various printed versions of the Hong Kong Basic Law and the handover ceremony schedule.

The exhibition hall also played the scene of the "Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China on the Maintenance of National Security" passed by a vote on June 30, 2020.

After Hong Kong encountered the "Regulations Amendment Disturbance" and gangster violence, the central government established and improved Hong Kong's legal system and enforcement mechanism for safeguarding national security by enacting the Hong Kong National Security Law to help Hong Kong change from chaos to governance.

Yi Maoxian, who was nearly eighty years old, told reporters after viewing the exhibition that on July 1, 1997, he witnessed the return of Hong Kong to the motherland through live TV broadcast.

Today, revisiting the handover ceremony in the exhibition is still surging.

He said that under "one country, two systems", Hong Kong and the Mainland can complement each other's advantages and participate in national construction, which will help the SAR's economic development and maintain prosperity and stability.
