The pressure due to Covid-19 continued to decrease on Monday in French hospitals, which still receive fewer patients, including the most serious cases, according to data from Public Health France published on Monday.
As of Monday, 10,386 patients occupied hospital beds, up from 10,518 the day before, and 12,374 a week ago.
The number of new admissions rose to 216 in 24 hours, the health agency said.
General decline on all fronts
Critical care services, which treat the most serious cases (resuscitation, intensive care and continuous monitoring) received 1,655 patients, against 1,703 on Sunday.
This key indicator, which fell below the 2,000 mark at the start of last week, has fallen sharply since the end of April, when the peak reached 6,000 patients.
In 24 hours, 48 patients with severe forms of Covid were admitted to these services.
Forty people have been killed by the disease in one day, bringing the total death toll to at least 110,800 since the start of the epidemic in March 2020. In terms of vaccination, 18,701,201 people are now fully vaccinated, either with two injections or with a single dose if they have received Janssen's product, or if they have been infected before.
Since the start of the campaign, 32,224,257 people have received at least one injection, or 48.1% of the total population and 61.4% of the adult population.
