[100th Anniversary of the Communist Party of China] Peng Zemin, the founder of the Peasants and Workers Party, and the Communist Party of China: Respond to the spirit and seek like-minded people

[Explanation] On November 3, 1947, Hong Kong held a special "birthday party".

Initiated by Li Jishen, He Xiangning and others, 71 democrats including Ma Xulun and Guo Moruo, as well as leaders of the CCP’s Hong Kong underground organization Fang Fang, Zhang Hanfu, and Qiao Guanhua, gathered together to celebrate the 70th birthday of Peng Zemin, one of the founders of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party.

When the reporter asked about this, Peng Runping, the daughter of Peng Zemin, who is now over eighty years old, laughed and said, in fact, it is not a birthday celebration that is generally understood.

In fact, neither cake nor wine.

It is not the kind of birthday party that we mortals look at. It is a political birthday party. In fact, it is to let these comrades and friends of the democratic parties gather together to talk freely and talk about their political views.

[Explanation] Peng Zemin made a living in Nanyang when he was young. At the beginning of the establishment of the Tongmenghui, he began to follow Sun Yat-sen. After returning to China, he devoted himself to the revolutionary cause and met a group of leaders of the Communist Party of China.

The Nanchang Uprising in 1927 was the first war experienced by Peng Zemin. He witnessed with his own eyes that the Communist Party of China fired its first shot at the Kuomintang reactionaries.

[Explanation] Then he came to Hong Kong, his family property was confiscated by the National Government, and his family was impoverished.

And he is incognito and cannot practice openly.

Even in this case, I tried my best to help other communists who came to Hong Kong.

Later, he selflessly and honestly cooperated with Wu Yuzhang, Lin Boqu, Zhou Enlai, and Chen Yannian. In the struggle against imperialism, feudalism, and Kuomintang reactionaries, he had consistent political views and became friends in trouble.

Peng Pai was arrested and killed in Shanghai. Peng Pai's mother Zhou Feng (seeking Peng Zemin for help) found a room to settle her grandma and her daughter-in-law.

Then he tried to save Peng Shilu (the son of Peng Pai). Later, someone called Chen Zhuofan, who was a commissioner of the KMT Chaoshan area (later a member of the Central Committee of the Peasants and Workers Party), arranged for Peng Shilu to live in our house.

[Explanation] In 1933, Peng Zemin obtained the qualification to practice medicine.

But in Peng Runping's impression, he never had any money left in his family, and he was invested in the cause of revolution.

In the long struggle, the head of the underground party of the Communist Party of China became friends with Peng Zemin.

Peng Runping still remembers that at the "Birthday Banquet" in 1947, Hong Kong and China jointly wrote a joint message on the red silk cloth.

On his birthday, the CCP organized an underground party in Hong Kong and specially wrote Peng Zemin a birthday message.

(I) I remember two sentences, there is Lao Peng in the south of the five ridges, and he has a real sense of purity and integrity.

It's not easy to say what you want, like-minded, and related.

[Explanation] On April 30, 1948, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued a slogan to commemorate the "May 1st" Labor Day and proposed to convene a political consultation meeting quickly.

Eight democratic parties responded positively, and the Peasant-Workers Party was signed by Peng Zemin on the telegram.

He was more than ancient at that time, but he did not hesitate to accept Mao Zedong's invitation to go north to participate in the preparations for the New CPPCC meeting.

Peng Runping still remembers the scene when he boarded the Tiananmen Gate with his father and saw Chairman Mao.

Saying that Chairman Mao saw that we all jumped up, my heart was pounding, and we hurriedly gathered in front of Chairman Mao.

Chairman Mao just touched our heads, touched our shoulders, and said what your name is, I’m Peng Runping!

Chairman Mao said what you do when you grow up, I know (to be) a model worker.

I promised Chairman Mao, I will never break my promise, I must do it.

[Explanation] After the founding of New China, Peng Zemin successively served as the chairman of the Central Supervisory Committee of the Peasants and Workers Party, the vice chairman of the Central Committee, the deputy director of the Political and Legal Committee of the State Council, the vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and the honorary president of the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Make time to see a doctor.

[Explanation] Old Peng passed away in 1956.

One day that year, Peng Runping got good grades in the college entrance examination and went home to show it to his father.

His father immediately wrote a poem, which became the only property he left to Peng Runping.

When he was a child, he suddenly fought away with swords and soldiers, and the troubled party was miserable and poor in learning; now that he has an excellent performance appraisal, he dares to forget the people's liberation merits.

Without the Communist Party, without New China, without the People's Liberation Army, would there be you?

He is so educated.

This is the only property left to me by my father. Just this poem tells me not to forget the "People's Liberation Gong".
