Italy after the Covid, a country in suspense

Italy was one of the first countries affected by the Covid and one of the most damaged.

But today, here as everywhere in Europe, life is resuming ... very slowly.

The terraces of the cafes are back to their regulars and on the People's Square in Rome, giant screens have been installed so that the tifosis can follow the matches of Euro 2021 live ...

Publicity

Has the pandemic changed Italians?

Are they eager to get back to their old ways?

Or, on the contrary, has the coronavirus left a lasting mark on them?

Italy is the first beneficiary of the European recovery plan.

More than 220 billion euros will irrigate the economy and the Italian administration, enough to restore confidence in the European Union ... but in return the government of Mario Draghi has undertaken to achieve an objective which has been constantly postponed since decades: finally reforming the country.

On the political level, in less than two years, Italy has experienced a 180-degree turn from the far-right and anti-European populist government of Matteo Salvini to that of Mario Draghi, very European and paradoxically supported by the almost all political parties.

More than ever Italy deserves its label of: "political laboratory of Europe".

While waiting for the return of tourists, between hope and uncertainty ... Italy remains in suspense.
